چکیده

The capacity region of wavelength division multiplexing in nonlinear fiber optic channels with coherent communication is studied. We show that by optimally using the information from all the channels at the receiver, the loss in the capacity due to the mixing of channels is negligible in the weakly nonlinear regime. On the other hand, with singlechannel detection, capacity saturates as the total interference power becomes comparable to the noise power. Similar results hold for the case of channels with memory. The transmitter can achieve the capacity without knowing the nonlinearity parameters. Some insight is provided on the structure of optimal/suboptimal receivers.

New Bounds on the Capacity of Fiber-Optics Communications

By taking advantage of the temporal correlations of the nonlinear phase noise in WDM systems we show that the capacity of a nonlinear fiber link is notably higher than what is currently assumed. This advantage is translated into the doubling of the link distance for a fixed transmission rate.

Dynamics of Fiber Optics in Optical Communication Network

This paper presents an overview of the fiber optics and its principles in optical communication network. Fiber nonlinearities are bounded factors for optical communications systems, in specific for wavelength division multiplexing .Among the nonlinearities effect is four-wave mixing ,which is a nonlinear process that generates new frequency components from existing frequency components. FWM is ...

Wavelength Division Multiplexing: An Overview & Recent Developments

As speed & bandwidth has always been a cause of concern in communication network, WDM emerges as a vital solution to these problems. The problem arises when the demand for bandwidth in a fiber optic network exceeds the current capacity, WDM helps in expanding the capacity of a fiber optic network without requiring additional fiber. The decision problem is to find the most cost-effective combina...

Fiber nonlinearity mitigation of WDM-PDM QPSK/16-QAM signals using fiber-optic parametric amplifiers based multiple optical phase conjugations.

We demonstrate fiber nonlinearity mitigation by using multiple optical phase conjugations (OPCs) in the WDM transmission systems of both 8 × 32-Gbaud PDM QPSK channels and 8 × 32-Gbaud PDM 16-QAM channels, showing improved performance over a single mid-span OPC and no OPC in terms of nonlinear threshold and a best achievable Q2 factor after transmission. In addition, after an even nu...
